Blok ushers in new age of independent living

07 February 2019

Blok is excited to announce the launch of its new independent living concept at its latest development, EIGHTONN

This concept is an innovative and creative extension of the Blok brand aimed at introducing new urban homes along Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard to a more mature clientele looking to make the most of their retirement.

“Independent living is designed to surpass traditional retirement expectations by enriching and enhancing every facet of residents’ lives. It empowers residents to maintain their high standards of living in a beautifully designed home that offers long-term care, should the need arise,” explains Blok Managing Director, Jacques van Embden.

Boasting spacious two and three-bedroom apartments with a high level of spec people have come to know and expect of Blok, EIGHTONN also offers its residents a holistic care package that includes a concierge available to assist residents and coordinate various services and activities on-site. In-unit emergency services as well as a nurse will also be available 24-hours a day to tend to any medical needs residents may have.

In keeping with other modern building features, the development provides wellness amenities such as a rooftop wellness studio and pool for all to enjoy. “Communal living has always been the cornerstone of our design ethos, and with EIGHTONN we were able to take this further than ever by designing a number of communal spaces and features that promise to enhance the vibrant life people are accustomed to. Luxurious social amenities such as a communal dining area and deli as well as an inviting garden will provide residents more opportunities to interact with their neighbours, entertain guests and family,” added van Embden.

EIGHTONN’s location between the tranquil Atlantic Ocean and vibrant Main Road provides convenient access to a number of public amenities that encourage an active lifestyle such as sandy beaches, tidal pools, a promenade perfect for sunset strolls and a bustling abundance of eateries and shops lining Sea Point’s main strip.

Blok was mindful of the current climate challenges within the Cape and have included a rain water harvesting system, borehole connection and filtration system into the design of the building and water-wise fittings and appliances that foster sustainable living habits.

“Over the past year, I have had the pleasure of watching EIGHTONN evolve into a ground- breaking independent living development that promises to cater to what up until now had been a largely under-serviced segment of the Atlantic Seaboard, and look forward to taking people on a bold new step forward on their urban living journey,” concluded van Embden.
