General

  • Develop and implement a communications strategy across Blok’s three brand pillars: Urban Homes, Urban Living and Design
  • Set and manage KPI’s
  • Create editorial calendars to align with company news, launches and other comms
  • Tracking and reporting monthly or ad hoc as required on the performance of communications and KPI’s
  • Managing internal communications
  • Managing market / public facing communications
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with all relevant media, influencers and stakeholders
  • Monitoring company press on Newsclip or similar media monitoring platform
  • Manage portfolio of responsibilities in line with the Marketing budget

Media buying

  • Create a media strategy and manage its implementation on an ongoing basis
  • Review all media opportunities and proposals and advise the Marketing team onopportunities to suit the brand in budget
  • Execute and manage media campaigns

Writing

  • Writing editorial pieces on urban homes, urban living and design for media as well as own channels
  • Creating client-facing content

Social Media / Community Management

  • Co-creating a social media strategy with the Marketing team
  • Creating content calendars for and managing and monitoring social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn
  • Facebook and Instagram advertising
  • Maintaining press page on our website
  • Reporting monthly

Events

  • Advise on industry awards, events and trade shows, speaking and networking opportunities
  • Planning and executing all communications relating to company events
  • Assisting with micro owner events
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of development launch events
  • Planning and managing any media-related events
  • Guest list management for all events

General ad hoc duties as the company sees fit.

Qualifications, Qualities and Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in marketing, media, PR, journalism or similar relevant qualification
  • PR / Communications Management experience (minimum 5 years).
  • Experience in crisis management communications
  • Proven experience in strategy / activation plans – planning and execution
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Strong media contacts and experience with managing media
  • Competent in Excel, Outlook and Word (MS Office Suite)
  • Experience with Mailchimp preferable although not essential
  • Strong attention to detail & highly organised
  • Strong administrative skills and can multitask
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Proactive approach and excellent problem-solving capabilities
  • Positive and professional attitude and appearance
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and follow through
  • Demonstrate good time management and teamwork
  • The ability to manage stress
  • Candidates with property / business experience preferential

Package

  • R 23 000 – R 30 000 per month CTC (experience dependent)

RECRUITMENT TASK

 

Review the following four scenarios and give a concise response detailing your approach, the risks and the proposed solution. All scenarios below relate to the context of property development in Cape Town.

1. There has been a fatal accident on site involving a construction worker. The site manager has shut the site down and an ambulance has been called. A crowd has gathered in the street outside and media is arriving and looking for information. Describe how you deal with this sensitive situation.

2. Someone with a large following on social media posts something negative about the brand. Describe how you would respond across the different platforms: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

3. A community in which a development is currently under construction is unhappy with the development happening in their neighbourhood. They involve local media to write a negative article on it. How do you approach the situation?
